Benefits
of Membership
Current Events.
Chapter meetings provide a wealth of timely information for
professionals at the center of the construction regulatory process.
Legislative reports, national reports, code development up-dates,
educational opportunities, and the status of State Building Code Division
activities and policies are all available to the attending members of the
chapter.
A
Place to be Heard.
The meeting floor of the chapter is the place where individuals have the
opportunity to influence policy makers.
Do you want ICC to move in a certain direction?
Do you think the State Building Codes Division should address a situation?
Do you have a message or issue to share?
Not only does the chapter meeting give you access to Minnesota’s ICC
directors and Building Code Division managers, but it gives you the chance to
convince the chapter, your peers, of the merits of your position.
Official chapter positions are considered carefully at both the state and
national level.
Education.
Chapter members are the first to know of up-coming seminars and
educational events.
Seats are limited for many of these important educational opportunities
so chapter members have the advantage of early registration. Additionally, each
meeting of the chapter features a code corner, a discussion of problems members
are having enforcing the code.
Within the past year 10,000 Lakes Chapter members have had the
opportunity to increase their professional knowledge regarding the energy code,
the plumbing code, the accessibility code, disaster mitigation, and the
legislative process.
Career
Development.
Do you want to keep track of what positions are open?
Or, do you have a position to fill?
Chapter meetings help match employers and prospective employees by
featuring open position announcements.
More importantly, chapter meetings give members the opportunity to get to know
each other. When it’s time to hire an inspector wouldn’t it be nice to
know the candidates before you interview?
For those seeking a
position, when who you know is as important as what you know,
active chapter members will always have the competitive advantage by being
prepared in both areas.
Solutions.
If you are wrestling with a problem in your jurisdiction it’s likely that
other jurisdictions have also faced the issue.
Chapter meetings provide an excellent venue to benefit from the experiences of
your peers.
The Chance to Contribute. Chapter membership fees
fund the activities of the chapter.
By purchasing membership you not only receive the benefits but also
contribute to the funding of, building official representation at the
International Codes Council code hearings, the chapter’s annual scholarship
program, charity and public relations efforts by the chapter, and the monitoring
of legislative issues of interest to building officials.
It’s an inexpensive and easy way to contribute to the common good.
